The brown trout record at Scotland’s Loch Leven – which had stood at 9lb 13oz for over 100 years – has been beaten with a fabulous fish weighing 11lb 5.4 ounces by Kirkcaldy’s Alan Campbell, a regular who fishes the water more of less every week.

Alan was boat fishing at the so called Hole ‘o’ Inch after the spot was recommended to him, and fooled it using a black and red buzzer.

Alan actually landed the fish around noon but didn’t weigh it in until he brought the boat in around 6pm, so it would have weighed quite a lot more when first caught.

His fish is the new official record for the water, beating the brown trout caught back in September 1911 by Colonel Bob Scott.
