The third round of the Barston Masters took place on June 8th and for once the weather was fantastic, the highlight being a 22lb common carp landed by the winner.

Thanks must go to Halkon Hunt who were the main sponsors of this round who supplied first prize with one of their superb fleece top and bottoms and the 13 section prizes along with Greys and Bag ‘Em match baits section prizes.

Although the weather finally improved it coincided with the fish getting into spawning mode. Over the week the skimmers, carp and F1s had been getting this out the way and in thie third round most of the fish were in no mood for having a munch for most.

However Billy Harris managed to find some fishing the Method feeder at range to the island of peg 110. Billy’s accuracy and tidy casting put fish in his net consistently throughout the match with F1s and carp with a match winning weight of 61lb 8 oz .

Second spot went to Rich Toomer. Rich was also in Billy’s section and took F1s and carp on the Method….one of them a massive common which weighed 22lb 6oz. In third spot was Adrian Cattel with 41 lb 8 oz.
