11th  Feb 2007 Match and Catch Rates Angel of the North Fishing Lakes

 

After a mixed week of frost, snow resulting in the lakes being partly covered with ice, by Friday afternoon it was decided to call of the match on Saturday, to let anglers travelling distances knows in plenty of time.

 

Well talk about Sods law the rain and warmer temperatures of Friday Night melted the lakes so match could have continued on the Saturday.

 

The Supercup is next Saturday with Angel Team competing against Weatherby and Middlesbrough so no match on Saturday

 

Matches from now on will be Saturday on Bowes Carp Lake which has at present 35 pegs and Sundays on Lookout Lake a  first class mixed coarse lake which can accommodate 52 pegs,

In addition, when the clocks go forward Wednesday evening matches will also resume.

Names are being taken for the first ever match on Sunday 18th of February Match on Lookout lake, 

 

All lakes were frozen from Wednesday Evening to Friday Evening, The choice of pegs, tackle and tactics have been instrumental to getting good catches.

 

Bassetts  since the steady thawing out this has resulted in some good catches on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Bowes on Sunday after the ice melted produced the goods by all anglers fishing the practice session for next week’s supercup fixture.

 

Lookout  choice of pegs,  tackle,&  tactics have been critical to  good catches however some stunning catches produced, Angel Juniors have again been doing some excellent angling.

 

Liam shilling continues to impress with a quality bag of Green Tench to 2lb, Golden tench total of 9, plus silvers, Liam fished peg 11 on the island during the Junior club coaching session.

 

Sean Reynolds fishing peg 13 took a good mixed bag and had a nice 3lb plus Bream

 

Gary Horseman from Blyth had a Sunday Afternoon session with good bag of Rudd, Golden Rudd, Skimmer, Loads of Perch, 3 nice Ide, good day for his first time.

 

At least the longer range forecast looks like water temperatures will steadily rise so a promise of even better catches.

 

Considering the weeks weather some excellent catches by some quality anglers.
