Angel of the North Match and Catch Report to Sunday 23rd Sept 07

Some great pleasure weights coming out with some good specimen sized species also being caught. Water temperatures dropped sharply from 17.4 deg 2 weeks ago down to 12.8 deg which has made anglers think about methods and feed patterns to get the fish catching.

Bassetts mixed coarse

This has been very busy this week with coaching both individuals and groups and it has been a great pleasure to see more females of all ages coming into the sport and getting HOOKED with some good numbers of fish being caught. The youngest this week has been Sarah Davenport an 8 yr old from Jarrow who has nagged here Dad (a sea angler) for a year to be able to take up fishing. She caught the best fish in todays group a lovely 4lb common carp as well as silvers and other carp, she is booked for next Saturdays coaching and loved the sport!.
Best Roach caught this week was 1lb 4oz a beauty.
Great pond for windy conditions.
Good tips for hook are worm tails, pellets, hair rigged corn, meat, maggots also cocktail of maggot and caster, with paste also in there.

Bowes Carp

Some good doubles as well as smaller carp coming out with Jimmy Hagan having an excellent day on peg 40
Paul Wood producing some good carp and most anglers getting to grips with this lake producing well.
Colin Thompson got an excellent common of 14lb in full dark golden winter colours which is possibly a forboding for the winter to come?
Good tips for hook are worm tails, pellets, hair rigged corn, meat, cocktail of maggot and caster, with paste also in there.

Lookout mixed course

Pleasure anglers are still having some superb catches with silvers, and carp including some exquisite Kois to double figures have been caught,  Weather conditions and Watercraft now needing to be understood as temperatures drop and skills, feed patterns, also choice of methods need to carefully considered to catch well. Still taking Rudd on the drop, tench, roach, ide, perch, carp etc to good individual fish weights  coming out as fish feed up post spawning and getting ready for winter ahead.
Good tips for hook are worm tails, pellets, hair rigged corn, meat, cocktail of maggot and caster, with paste also in there.
