The Angling Trust will be holding an England assessment trial early in the New Year for anglers aged between 66 and 75 years old for an exciting new international World Angling Championship.

FIPSed which is governing body for international freshwater competition have put together a brand-new category the ‘Super Veterans’ which can only be applauded with the ever-growing demand from ageing anglers.

The Angling Trust are encouraging experienced anglers to come forward from this age category to compete for selection part in the first World Angling Championship for Super Veterans on the Mura River in Croatia from 16th – 17th June. With recent success in the Veterans age category such as the double Gold in 2016 it’s hoped that Team England can add to this in the new age category.

A venue and date for the England assessment trial is yet to be confirmed. Anglers wishing to apply will get the chance to fish alongside the current Veterans squad and to FIPSed international rules. It is also a requirement that each angler is also an individual member of the Angling Trust. All applicants will also be expected to help raise funds, or contribute towards the costs themselves if selected.
