The latest Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier was held at the fabulous Partridge Lakes complex in Cheshire on Saturday 18th June 2016.  The venue’s popularity was confirmed by the big turnout.

The weather was pretty good following the recent heavy rains and this combined with the fish’s post spawning mood caused most of the anglers to believe things may be a bit tough. Indeed this was the case for some but generally it was a brilliant match and a “ton” did not get you into the frame.

The famous Covey Pools dominated proceedings although there were lots of weights over 80 lbs scattered across all pools.

The winner was Leeds and Middy angler Ben Fisk who put a brilliant 148 lbs 8 ozs on the scales at Covey peg 162. He fished caster shallow and later maggot over groundbait to catch mainly F1’s to 3 lbs. Ben said he was delighted to get one step nearer to the Final.  Runner-up and second to qualify for the semi final was Andy May. He drew Covey 101 and took all F1’s to 2 lbs in his 117 lbs 10 oz net

Drennan’s Jon Arthur was third with 116 lbs 13 ozs at Ribbon peg 12 taking a mix of F1’s, barbel and carp fishing shallow and down the edge with caster. Fourth was Karl Webster with 112 lbs 2 ozs from Covey 155.

Fifth spot went to Jonathan Harvey with 111 lbs 1 ozs from Covey 153 and sixth was William Smith with 106 lbs 2 ozs from Covey 85.   With only two qualifiers left for this year the action heads to Gold Valley Lakes, Aldershot,  Hampshire on Saturday 25th June.
