The Stuart Spence Memorial on the Perdiswell stretch of the Birmingham-Worcester Canal attracted a good turnout and the fishing wasn’t bad either with everyone catching and the majority weighing in over 6lb.

Stuart, who passed away last year, was one of the characters on the local match scene and was known for always fishing in shorts, even in winter. Swan AC’s Bill Biddle won the day with 9-11-0 – two chub and four skimmers from peg 38. That was only just too good for Simon Jaques, who had a 7lb 8oz carp and some silver fish from peg 127 behind the football ground for 9-10-14.
