The Warwickshire Avon at Pensham is noted for holding some big bream – last season Swan AC’s Paul Coley had nine fish for 71lb there.

The latest club event on the stretch saw an excellent turnout of 35 anglers – more than many open matches in the UK last weekend – and it was Paul who did the business again, weighing in three bream for a winning 18-10 on swimfeeder and maggot from the noted Pump House swim.

It was good to see some bootlace eels turning up – second placed Tim Biddle had nine of them plus a bream and two hybrids in his 11-10-0, while Les Sanders had one big bream for 8-14-0.
