SUDDENLY the country’s bigger carp seem to be stirring into action with several quality fish reported in the last few days.

Topping the list is Nigel Sharp, who has been fishing Frimley Pit Three and at the weekend banked the fish known as ‘Charlie’s Mate’ at 41lb 6oz.

Regular browsers of the Total-Fishing Carp Forum will know that Jim Shelley has been having it away at Tollpits, bagging ‘The Italian’ at 38lb 14oz and then ‘Arthur’ at 37lb.

Linear Fisheries has switched on too, especially Manor Farm Lake which in the last week has produced fish of 34lb 6oz to Terry Hearn and 25lb 8oz for Barry O’Conner, while Andrew Lees from Wolverhampton bagged a nice mirror of 29lb 8oz from St John’s Lake. Incidentally, the venue’s Oxlease Lake is now open to day ticket anglers.

And over at RMC’s Fisher’s pond, Gary Pearson overcame freezing conditions to fool a 30lb 8oz fish while Nathan Ketcher took a 25-pounder form Grebes Head Bay. Top angling all of you!
