Over 200,000 Video Views A Month For Magazines

I’m delighted to say that the video magazines for anglers I’m involved with are doing fantastically and producing well over 200,000 video views a month.
There are monthly magazines for coarse, carp, sea and game anglers, all available free to view here on Total-Fishing and other big fishing websites.
They can also be viewed on iphones and ipads and in the last week I’ve been busy signing off a presence on Samsung Smart TVs – so we really are creating the fishing TV channel that inspired me to join the project in the first place.
We are running into show season and Fishing TV will have a presence at the new show in Norwich this weekend, at the Brentwood show coming up and also at a news show at the Ricoh arena and The Big One at Farnborough in March.
If you haven’t had a chance to look at the video magazines yet, visit www.total-fishing.com/tv-video .
It's such a difficult time for the angling media that it's great to be involved in something that's growing rapidly...

Monster River Severn Barbel
The River Severn has produced its biggest barbel in a very long time in the shape of a 15lb 12oz beauty to Hartpury angler Kevin Gittins.
Kevin, who has targeted the big river’s barbel for over a decade up to four times a week, tempted the personal best with a Teme Severn boilie wrapped in paste and mounted on a size 6 hook and braid mainline. Kevin said: “Water temperature is the key to the barbel feeding in winter, and if it’s mild with a little bit of extra water around, you have to get out there.”

4lb Perch On The Fly
Fishing guide Tom Hammond was all smiles after tempting a belting 4lb perch using fly fishing tactics. The Gloucester based angler heads up the predator fishing trips for guiding service Midlands Fly Fishing and took the big stripey plus several more quality fish at a 100-acre venue they use regularly after spotting a shoal of them attacking fry. More information on the trips at http://www.midlands-flyfishing.co.uk/.

Mighty Quinney’s 14lb Rainbow Trout
Packington Somers has produced a fine 14lb 2oz rainbow trout to Lapworth angler Mark Quinney, who was fishing Cocks Close pool. The venue has been in decent winter form over the last week with 90 anglers catching 225 fish, including another nice rainbow of 8lb 4oz to Chris White.
The Great Pool has been in excellent nick with lots of fish showing in the shallower water to the left of the boat jetty. Alan Beckett and Jean Ashton of Wythall shared a boat on Great Pool and caught 14 fish between them using white Minkies on an intermediate line.
The best areas on Cocks Close have been the road bank and high bank using intermediate lines. Cats Whiskers, black Tadpole, Minkies, Appetizer, white Fritz are all catching a few fish.

Shatterford Depths Keep The Carp Feeding
One Midlands day ticket venue that always fishes well through cold snaps because of its depth is Shatterford Fishery in Kidderminster, and regulars Ed Hill and Martin Poole cashed in during an active 24-hour session on Erics Lake. Bewdley angler Ed landed an impressive 24lb mirror using Cell boilies, while Martin, who hails from Kidderminster, banked a 17lb common and a 15lb mirror with Source boilies. Midlands Match Round-Up
On the match front the standout weight of the weekend for me was the 71-14-0 bag of chub weighed in by Shakespeare backed Stu Halford in the Hereford Winter League on the River Wye at Belmont. Stu drew peg 96 between the two road bridges where he fished Bolognese style with maggot feed and hook bait to nearly double the weight of the second-placed angler.
Weights on the commercials have suffered a bit in the cold snap but Tunnel Barn Farm is holding its form with the best weight falling to Maver Midlands rod Mark Wilson, who fished pole and pellet in the midweek open on Canal Pool for a mixed 87-5-0 bag that included F1s, roach, tench, bream and barbel.
There have also been several matches on the region’s canals, the best the Stirrup Cup event on the Birmingham-Fazeley Canal at Curdworth where the top four took over 4lb to the scales, Dave McCall winning with 5-6-12 of roach, perch and skimmers to pole with squatt tactics.
