Pic: Eric Weeks with his 14lb 12oz Trent barbel

Long Eaton Victoria Angling Society member Eric Weeks had an eventful couple of days this week.
On Tuesday 10th March he had his first fishing trip to the River Trent on the LEVAS Long Eaton stretch since August last year.
He was rewarded with a personal best barbel of 13-06 (see below).
He returned to the same stretch of the River Trent on Thursday 12th March and this time increased his personal best barbel to a massive 14-12 (see above).
To catch both fish Eric used a block end feeder filled with scalded pellets and broken boilies.  For bait he used double 14mm “The Dubby” boilies presented on a hair rig, casting about 25m out into about 3m depth of water.
With the season closing on Saturday the 14th March it is a great end to the season.
The LEVAS river fisheries (on Rivers Trent and Soar) are restricted to members only, with new members welcome.
The new LEVAS Membership books will be available from 1 May at £25 for Adult Members, £13 for Concessionary Members (OAP & Disabled), and £8 for Juniors aged under 17 years of age on 1 May.
