Specialist Martin Bowler has banked one of the biggest barbel ever from the Bristol Avon at 15lb 2oz.
The former British record holder took the mighty fish, which is among the top five of all time from the tough venue, during heavy flood conditions using clock leads to hold bottom and using boilies on the hook.
It capped a remarkable spell for the Chippenham, Wilts angler, who inside ten days also landed a 16lb 6oz barbel from the Great Ouse and a 14lb 12oz barbel from the Dorset Stour.
Martin described the fish as his best ever barbel, despite the fact that he once held the British record with a 16lb 13oz Great Ouse fish taken in January 1999.
He has also had barbel to 14lb 7oz from the Severn, so you could say he knows his onions when it comes to barbel tactics.
