Bury Hill Temple Lake Silver Fish Match Report

Nicholls wins as Evans is second yet again!
15 anglers lined up in this second silvers match on Temple Lake at Bury Hill Fishery and with conditions much colder than the first match back in September where 31lbs was needed to win, this time round the competitors needed to work harder for their bites. Chris Nicholls, a late entry, drew peg 12 and with a few nice skimmers and roach plus a few small perch and rudd winkled his way to victory with 14lbs 12oz catching mainly on the pole and maggot over groundbait Chris like the entire field slowed up near the end but held on to pick up the £110 first prize. Beaten by just 7 ounces in the first ever silvers match held on this Carp syndicate specimen lake, Bury Hill tackle shop manager Russ Evans on peg 5 was hoping to go one better but a very slow last two hours saw his early lead slip away and had to settle for second place again some 10 ounces short with 14lbs 2oz of mainly skimmers and the odd roach and perch caught on the pole and red maggot over groundbait at 13 metres.
Ryan Watson on peg 8 with 11lbs 8oz and Brian Wallin with 10lbs 8oz were the only other anglers to reach double figures in a field that included England International Steve Gardener and Ipswich Town and ex West Ham footballer Jimmy Bullard who finished a respectable 6th place with 8lbs 12oz.
