The first round of the Oxford summer league was fished by 8 teams of 6 anglers on the Thames at Abingdon and Culham.

With the river still having good summer flow it was expected the roach would show as they had all week for those practicing. However the strong wind on the day made presentation difficult and for most only small roach showed. The individual winners however all caught bream mainly at the Culham end.

1st Tony Hobbs – Drennan Oxford Yellow – 52lb 12oz. Tony drew in the rushes at Culham and had a brilliant 1st 2hours catching 18 bream and skimmers on 11m pole and worm over groundbait.
2nd Ian Young – Drennan Oxford Blue – 33lb 12oz. Ian drew in the wood at Culham and had 8 early bream on the open end feeder and worm.
3rd John Hassler – Isis – 17lb 7oz. John drew in the wood at Culham and had 2 bream and some roach on the open end feeder and worm
