MAVER Larford Lakes is joining the summer festival scene with a five-day August event which will see the winner pocket at least £1000.

Anglers will alternate between the Stourport venue’s Specimen Lake and the Match Lake with a practise day on Monday August 2nd followed by four days of competition from Tuesday to Friday.

Entry is £35 with a daily pool of £20, making a total entry fee for the week of £115.

There will be big cash prizes for section and lake wins on each day of the festival, with the overall winner decided first on section points, and in the vent of a tie, on a weight count back.

Organiser Mike Robinson is expecting a minimum of 100 anglers and that looks a certainly with 40 tickets sold within a week of them going on sale.

The top two in each section of ten will win cash prizes each day and the overall top three at end of the four days will all win ‘a tasty’ cash payout.

“We’ve been looking to bring a big match like this to Larford for some time are delighted to have got it off the ground,” said Maver’s Mike Robinson, who is organising the event.

“The beauty of Larford is that in using the two lakes, we can make it a true test of silver fish and carp fishing ability.

“With the Specimen Lake holding fantastic fish including stacks of double figure bream and loads of 30lb plus carp, plus a massive head of silver fish, it will be very difficult to predict what will happen,” he added. “Meanwhile sport on the Match Lake keeps improving and can be guaranteed. The lake only recently produced two match weights over 130lb.

“For anglers wishing to travel there is plenty of good accommodation and angling chat to be had in the Bewdley and Stourport area. We have already had a great response and it looks sure to be a sell-out.”
