England win gold, Ireland wins silver in the Home Nations Boat Angling Championships held in Stornoway, Scotland

Sea anglers across the UK descended on Lewis in Scotland to participate in a UK fishing competition. Stornoway Sea Angling Club was been selected as the host for the Home Nations Sea Angling Boat Championships. The event is held annually and hosted in turn by each nation, Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
This year being the turn of the Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers and they chose Stornoway and the port of Carloway as their host venue. The venue was chosen because of the excellent fishing available around the islands as well as the reliable capability of Stornoway Sea Angling Club to organise the event.
Teams from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales are battling it out over the three day event.
Earlier in the week teams arrived on the island and went out of practice trips on boats from Carloway in advance of Thursday’s start date. The fishing was good and Paddy Breslin from Culdaff SAC was a member of the successful Ireland Team along with Heiko Drier, Myles Howell and Shay McDonnell.

    Final results were:

    Gold – England
    Silver – Ireland
    Bronze – Scotland
    Dark bronze – Wales
