FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 5/6/16

Last week 61 rods caught 115 fish for an average of 1.88 per rod.

It has been very difficult this week with bright conditions and a rise in temperatures seeing the trout start to shoal again. The boat anglers have enjoyed the best success and there were some nice fish caught as well.

Les Bagnell of Birmingham returned a fish in excess of 12lb which fell to a Zulu pattern fished on a floating line from a boat on Cocks Close. Ray Inman of Birmingham caught an 11lb rainbow again from a boat on Cocks Close and probably had the best catch of the week taking 11 fish in total on Damsels and Buzzers. Alex Kerr of Nuneaton fished from the bank on Cocks Close and caught five fish to 4lb using a small Bloodworm pattern on a floating line. Allan Bowen of Birmingham fished from a boat on Park Meadow and caught five fish to 3lb using small white and green Goldheads.

Late evening is the best time with the fish still feeding on small white Moths and Olives so there are plenty of fish moving. During the day pulling Damsels or Buzzers round on the breeze is the best tactic.

We will be closing on Thursday 30th June for the summer and from Monday 13th June catch and release will be suspended. Tickets will be £20 for five fish and £15 for five fish (senior citizen).
