Many younger TFers won’t remember Sid, but he was instrumental in creating the Mustad brand and business in the UK and was a leading player in the angling industry over many, many years. Hen was a good friend of David Hall too – both now gone. RIP Sid.

‘A community has been left in shock after an elderly man was killed when he was hit by a car in his home village.

The 80-year-old resident died after a black BMW 1 Series car collided with him as he walked on Levenside in Great Ayton, near the Buck Hotel.

Medics arrived quickly at the accident, but were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been named locally as Sid Sarbutts, a resident of the North Yorkshire village situated near Cleveland.’
