Just for a change the weather was pretty good for this midweek Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier held on Wednesday, 13th April, with very Spring-like temperatures and a gentle breeze.

As a result the resident fish at Garbolino Lindholme Lakes really responded with nine anglers posting ton-plus weights and 18 of the 10-pegs being won with weights over 60lbs.

The top weight of 145lbs 5ozs was taken by Leeds angler Stuart Fotheringham. He fished corner peg 37 on Willows and caught F1’s and carp dobbing a variety of hook baits close to the “stick ups”. To cap a great day, Stuart’s biggest fish was a beautiful mirror carp of 24lbs 6ozs. Stuart has fished loads of qualifiers over the years so was delighted to finally get to the final.

Runner-up and also qualifying for the finals at Cudmore on 8th and 9th July was Ryan Lidgard. Ryan, from Barton-on-Humber drew fancied peg 70 on Bonsai and caught carp to 6lbs on the pellet waggler to amass a fabulous 130lbs 3ozs. Third was former finalist, Luke Bamford, who put 127lbs of F1’s and carp to 7lbs on the scales fishing pellet down the edge on Laurels 35.

Luke was closely followed by David Woodworth who took fourth with 124lb 9ozs at Bonsai 62. Fifth was Jack Turner who again had carp and F1’s in his 110lbs 10ozs. Sixth place went to Frankie Gianoncelli who weighed 103lbs 9ozs at peg 5 on Beeches.

The Angling Trust would like to offer their thanks to Neil and all at Garbolino Lindholme Lakes for all their work.

The next Fish ‘O’ Mania heads to Barford Lakes in Norfolk on Saturday 16th April.
