FARLOWS, the famous fly-fishing shop is to host a reception and auction at their new flagship store in Pall Mall on 27th November to raise funds for the CA Campaign for Angling’s youth fishing initiative and to launch an International Fishing Fellowship for young people.

Campaign for Angling Director Charles Jardine explained: “We are teaming up with Farlows to raise money specifically for our campaign to educate future generations about angling and its benefits.

“I can think of no better feeling than teaching a child who knows nothing about fishing and watching their enthusiasm and passion for the sport grow, knowing that they will share the passion and become “a fisherman”.

“We are aiming to provide the opportunities and support for as many kids as possible to get involved in all types of angling and conservation as a result.

“Forthcoming projects include educating future generations, creating nationwide, creating a new education pack which expands on our existing one, and founding an International Fishing Fellowship” which will be launched on the evening.

The 28-lot auction will be run by the popular personality Bernard Cribbins – who will be looking for high bids for some extremely covetable prizes. Several of the lots are for a day’s fishing on some of the best rivers in the UK, from the Wye and the Trent for barbel, to the South Esk for salmon or the more exotic black bass in Spain. Fishing holidays and breaks will also be available, as will tuition with angling personalities such as Bob James, Robin Elwes and Charles Jardine.

There will be a Prize Draw on the night to win a day’s fishing on the River Test for a family of four – two rods at any time and instruction from the two of England’s best known guides.

Farlows will be offering a special discount on all purchases made at the event, as well as a voucher to be spent before Christmas.
