Big Fish Man is airing 6 June 2016 in the UK on Quest TV at 8 pm and features world renowned big fish angler Jakub Vagner on one of his toughest fishing challenges ever, fishing in Thailand for the awesome Giant freshwater stingray guided by Fishsiam. The show will be repeated over the coming weeks on Quest and Quest +1,

Jakub Vagner began his Thai fishing trip at the Bang Pakong River near Bangkok before moving onto the Mae Klong River in Samut Songkran.

During his time stingray fishing at the Maeklong River,Jakub Vagner assisted in Giant freshwater stingray research with scientists from Chulalongkorn University and the Dept of fisheries.

Jakub Vagner caught several Giant freshwater stingrays with widths to 1.5m for scientific examination by the Chulalongkorn University team, with all fish being tagged before release in addition to various other scientific data being recorded and collected.

With only a few days fishing at the Mae Klong River left,Jakub hooked a much more powerful Giant freshwater stingray.

Jakub was locked in an epic battle with the unseen Giant freshwater stingray lasting over an hour which pushed him to his physical limits, before the angler finally managed to bring the fish to the surface for netting.

The Giant freshwater stingray was identified as being a big male and was measured at a width of 1.75m with an estimated weight of 175-180kg

The fish was landed on 130lb okuma stand up rod Makaira multiplier and 10/0 owner circle hook.
