Nuneaton Winter League – Teams of Four
1st Round, Sunday 11th January 2009
Coventry Canal, Coventry
10 teams

There was an inch of ice covering many sections of the Coventry Canal for the first round of the Nuneaton Winter League and the frozen areas in Coventry city centre were definitely the place to be. Canal legend Dave Berrows proved that he still has what it takes by winning the match easily with 18-12-8 of quality roach to 14oz plus a couple of small skimmers. He was pegged behind the factory between Leicester Causeway and Freehold Street and caught on bloodworm early at eight metres before switching to joker later on. England International Sean Ashby filled second spot with 12-15-0 from the Foleshill Road section, just ahead of Jason Cunningham’s 12-13-0 effort.
