If you’re thinking about coming to France to fish then you will be looking for not only the chance to catch large fish but to be able to fish in natural and inspiring surroundings.

The Limousin offers some of the best fishing in France and Oaklands is a prime example.

Whether you are a specialised carp fisherman or looking for all round quality fishing, it really doesn’t get much better than this.

Mirrors to over 40lb, commons to over 30lb and grass carp to over 20lb are present.

The stocking has been carefully managed to ensure superb fishing in wonderful surroundings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our mature lake of seven and a half acres set in woodland, part of a beautiful 30-acre estate, supports nine custom made swims (we allow only a maximum of fishermen at any one time).

All the fishing pegs are made to take a large bivvy and two have the benefit of wooden shelters.

Fish stocks in the lake are carefully managed to provide the best possible fishing.

Oaklands holds a predominance of carp and is an ideal venue for the serious carp angler. Commons to 30lb, mirrors to 40Ib and grass carp to 20lb are in abundance. Equally, the lake supports good sized tench, rudd, roach and chub.

There are nine large peg areas on the lake with only six anglers allowed on at a time.

For non-anglers

Oaklands Lake is perfectly situated for those parties containing non anglers or those seeking the odd break from fishing perhaps for the day.

 

Situated in the South of the Haute Vienne, close to the northern borders of the Dordogne, drive south into the recognised tourist spots of the Dordogne or North into the largely undiscovered but beautiful countryside of the Limousin.

How to get there
Oaklands Lake is located in the commune of La Meyze, a small village to the south of the Haute-Vienne department within the Limousin region of France and a stone’s throw from the Northern borders of the Dordogne.

We are approximately 16 miles south of Limoges, the capital of the Limousin and approximately 37 miles north of Perigueux, the capital of the Dordogne.

We are ideally situated therefore for exploring the lesser known but exciting regions of the Limousin, whilst at the same time taking the odd trip into the the established Dordogne tourist locations.

By air
Choose Ryanair to fly into nearby Limoges from Stansted, Liverpool or Nottingham or Flybe from Southamton to Limoges. Whichever route you choose we are only a 35 minute drive from the airport.

By sea crossing/channel tunnel
Many guests prefer to travel at a more leisurely pace, utilising one of the many ferry services crossing the channel on a frequent basis or maybe the channel tunnel. If you enjoy driving, the advantages are that you get to see more of France on the way, maybe stopping off for the night, and you get to bring your car with you. The distances below give you an idea of travel time. On the whole, French roads are good and traffic is light, but you may have to pay a small toll if you chose to use any of the motorways.
