A huge turnout of 216 anglers braved horrendous conditions to compete in the World Dab Championships, fished on the beaches of Dungeness in Kent.

This annual event is fished mainly to raise money for good causes, and it certainly did that, with a cheque for £5309 winging its way to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

There was of course a winner and that was Ian Harnett who had 11 dabs for 4lb 11oz, just ahead of Alan Yates.
