FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 15/1/12

Last week 90 rods caught 225fish for an average of 2.50.

The Fishery is still in pretty good form with plenty of fish being caught from all of the pools.  There have been lots of fish in the 3 – 5lb bracket coming out.

The best fish of the week an 8lb 4oz rainbow from a boat on Cocks Close caught by Chris White of Northampton, this one was included in a five fish bag and Buzzers and Minkies were the successful flies.  Mr D Bower of Earl Shilton caught one just over 6lb from the bank of Cocks Close and caught a further six tempting them all on a Cats Whisker Lure.  Mark Sturgess of Nuneaton fished the bank of Cocks Close and took five and released a further six fish and they all fell to white Lures.  Three of Mark’s fish were over 3lb.

The Great Pool has been in excellent form recently with lots of fish showing in the shallower water to the left of the boat jetty.  Alan Beckett and Jean Ashton of Wythall shared a boat on Great Pool and caught 14 fish between them using white Minkies on an intermediate line.  John Bartlam of Atherstone also used Minkies, but this time on Park Meadow pool and he caught five fish to over 3lb whilst fishing from a boat.

The best areas on Cocks Close Day Ticket water have been the road bank and high bank using intermediate lines.  Cats Whiskers, black Tadpole, Minkies, Appetizer, white Fritz are all catching a few fish.
