REPORT

MOLANDS After a cold start to the week with night frosts, the weather picked up and the spring like conditions at the weekend saw an improvement in sport. Match catches to over 60lb and pleasure anglers reported even bigger nets with F1’s, skimmers and carp making up the better catches along with tench and crucians which are showing in larger numbers now. The top tactics are to fish up to the island with either a method or pellet feeder with meat, pellet, punched bread or maggot on the hook. The better pegs are those that feature the far bank corner such as 1 – 4, 8 – 12, 23 – 29, 43 – 47 and all along the 50’s.

GEARYS Sport on Gearys is now picking up with the milder conditions and the carp are starting to feature in catches and fish to 15lb, weighed in during matches. The bigger skimmers are also having a go at the moment with plenty of fish around the 1 – 3lb range being caught. Pole fished pellet over micros or ground bait is the best tactic with straight lead and 8mm pellet also worth trying at the moment. Best pegs 7 – 11, 15, 19, 21, 30 – 32 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS Pleasure anglers fishing towards the end of the week reported good nets of F1’s, crucians and skimmers or paste fished down the near margin with catches reported in excess of 70lb. Match weights have been up to 58lb and long pole with pellet or method to the island have been the better tactics during matches. Best pegs are 9 – 12, 19, 21 and 25 – 29.

GRATUITIES A little up and down during the week, fishing well one day and poor the next but the warmer weather should see the fish respond. The better pegs have been along the far bank from 9 – 15 with tench and carp providing the bulk of the action but skimmers, roach and some big perch have been caught too. A feeder fished to the island for the bigger fish on pole with pellet or caster has been the best approach.

ANNIVERSARIES Lots of bites with anglers catching mixed nets of skimmers, small carp, roach and the odd tench to 5lb. 4mm pellet fished over micros is working well with chopped worm and caster or maggot also providing plenty of sport. The point at the top end is the best area on pegs 1 – 9.

WILLOW Very busy this week with most anglers enjoying decent sport. Pellet or and caster are the top baits providing mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers. Pegs
1- 3, 5 and 9 have been the most consistent over the last few days.
