FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 17/11/13
Last week 68 rods caught 239 for an average 3.51.
The fishing is steadily getting better with fish now spread around the pools.  The cold frosty weather has got them chasing Lures and patterns that give good movement such as Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, Gold Head Damsel, Minkies and Fritz Lures which have all accounted for a few fish.  For those who prefer a more imitative approach, green or black Buzzers fished on a floating line are also doing well.

The biggest fish of the week was a 10lb rainbow which was caught and returned by Nuneaton’s Rod Lacey who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he took it on a green Buzzer.  Tom Dixon of Coleshill had a 7lb rainbow on a small olive Suspender Buzzer whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and this was the best of a seven fish catch.  Fishery stalwart Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished the bank on several occasions last week with his best day seeing him land ten rainbows to 3½lb using a small Damsel pattern fished on a floating line.
On the members’ waters, Great Pool is getting better with most anglers catching now.  Les Garside of Nuneaton and Alan Beckett of Wythall shared a boat on there and caught eight fish between them and they all fell to Minkies fished on an intermediate line.
The best areas have been the high bank, wires bank and old boat jetty on Cocks Close, the shallower water and jetty side of Great Pool and the deeper water in the middle of Park Meadow.
