FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 16/2/14

Last week 47 rods caught 210 fish for an average of 4.47.
Despite the very wet and windy weather of the past week the fishing has been excellent with both the boat and bank anglers catching well.
The biggest fish of the week was a 9lb rainbow caught by fishery stalwart Dave Bratby of Birmingham who was fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and he took it on his orange headed Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line and it was the best of a 15 fish haul that were caught and released.  Rod Lacey of Nuneaton also fished catch and release from a boat on Cocks Close and caught 15 fish to 6lb on a Montana Nymph fished on a floating line.  John Riley of Atherstone also fished from a boat and caught five fish to4lb 12oz and they all came to a Cats Whisker Lure.
On the members’ pool Park Meadow, Ian Nelson of Solihull fished from a boat and caught six fish to 3lb on a black and green Montana Nymph fished on a floating line.
The fish are now spread around the pool at Cocks Close with the high bank, old boat jetty corner and the road bank the main hotspots.  On Park Meadow, the shallower water at the far side of the pool from the boat jetty has been the top area.
Best flies are Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, Bloodworm, GRHE, black or olive Buzzers, Montana Nymph and black Tadpoles.
