FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 2/2/14
Last week 39 rods caught 147 fish for an average of 3.77.
The wet and windy weather for most of the week meant that the fishery was not very busy but those who braced the conditions found the sport to be very good.
The largest fish of the week was a 9lb rainbow caught by fishery stalwart Harold Lewis of Knowle who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he tempted it with a Bloodworm pattern fished on a floating line.   Mr P Longstaff and Ms J Tuffs shared a boat on Cocks Close and managed to catch 15 fish up to 3lb between them using black and green Lures on intermediate lines.  Dave Bratby fished catch and release from the bank and caught 12 fish to 4lb on a small orange head Damsel Nymph fished on a floating line.
On the members’ water Park Meadow, Bob Tench of Shustoke caught five fish to over 3lb using a Cats Whisker Lure fished on an intermediate line.
The best areas have been the road bank and old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close and on Park Meadow, the deeper water in the middle of the pool has been the most productive.
Top flies are Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, black or white Minkies, Tadpoles, Fritz Lures, Bloodworm and black Buzzer.
