FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 19/10/14

Last week 71 rods caught 231 fish for an average of 3.25.

The fishing has been good over the past week despite the wet and windy weather at times.  The Day Ticket water Cocks Close has been in form with the boat anglers, particularly enjoying good catches.  The bank has been a little patchy with the fish were showing better on the windward banks and last week the old boat jetty corner was the best area from the bank.

Last week, the biggest fish was an 11lb rainbow caught by Coventry rod Dr Khana who fished a Booby Lure on a sinking line to tempt it.  Fishery stalwart Ray Inman of Birmingham fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught six fish to 7lb using a small Cats Whisker fished on an intermediate line.  Graham Ashby of Fillongley also had a 7lb rainbow in his seven fish haul from a boat on Cocks Close and these again came to a Cats Whisker pattern.

On the members’ waters, Great Pool has started to fish after a long summer slumber!  The Packington Fly Fishers held an event on there with the Kirby Fly Fishers and they managed to find a few fish.  Harold Pritchett of Mancetter caught five and returned a further six with the biggest going at 6lb and these came to Damsel Nymphs and Cats Whiskers.  Scott Fyfe of Bentley Heath caught five fish which all fell to a Damsel Nymph.

Top patterns are Cats Whisker, Damsel Nymph, black and green Fritz Lures, Montana, Black Buzzer, GRHE and pearly P T Nymph.
