FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 19/2/17

Last week 69 rods caught 397 fish for an average of 5.75 fish per rod

The much milder weather saw rod numbers increase and they were rewarded with some excellent fishing. Both boat and bank anglers enjoyed good sort with plenty of fish in the 3-5lb range being caught.

The largest fish of the week was a 8lb 5oz rainbow caught by Rod Lacey of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he took it on his favourite diawl bach pattern on a floating line and he also had a 7lb 2oz fish in his 12 fish haul.Mr R Ponting of Sutton Coldfield had a 8lb rainbow in a 10 fish catch from a boat on cocks close which all came to a damsel nymph fished on a floating line.Mr G Jones also of Sutton Coldfield had another 8lb fish which also came to a damsel nymph.Messrs C and P Flay of Witherley had a boat on Park Meadow pool and caught 12 between including fish of 5lb 6oz and 4lb 12oz and these were all caught on a white fritz lure.Steve Gowan of Knowle fished the bank of Cocks close and caught 10 fish to 4lb 9oz using blobs and buzzers on an indicator.

Top patterns are Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, Gold Head Damsel, Bloodworm, Diawl Bach,Black Buzzer and GRHE with fish now starting to move on the top as well so it wont be long before the dries will start to work well

The best areas have been the road bank, the sandbank and the old boat jetty corner on cocks close with the middle areas of Park Meadow in the deeper water the hotspot on there.
