Last week 59 rods caught 289 fish for an average of 4.90 fish per rod

A really mixed bag of weather with mild conditions giving way to wild and windy weather later in the week. The fishing has been good with plenty of fish being caught to a variety of tactics. Small imitative patterns such as Diawl Bach, Gold Ribbed Hares Ear, pearly Pheasant Tail Nymph and even small Hoppers have accounted for a few with more fish moving on the top now. Lures such as Cats Whisker, black Tadpole, white Fritz and Minkies have also been catching on slow or intermediate lines.

The largest fish of the week was a 7lb 12oz rainbow caught by Ian Reeve of Rugby who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and it was the best of an eight fish catch which fell to a combination of Cats Whiskers and Bloodworm patterns. Jack Dixon of Warwick had a 6lb 8oz rainbow on a Booby again from a boat on Cocks Close. Roger Smith of Atherstone also fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught eight fish to 4lb with some caught on Buzzers on a floating line and a few on Cats Whiskers. Harold Pritchett of Atherstone caught five fish and returned a further six fish to 4lb while fishing from a boat on the Park Meadow pool and he used his own Killer pattern to tempt them.

The best areas have been the old boat jetty corner on Cocks Close and the dam wall area on Park Meadow.

Memberships are available to fish both pools at very reasonable rates. Please contact the lodge for further details.
