Last week 59 rods caught 360 fish for an average of 6.10 fish per rod

The fishing has been in excellent form this week with both Cocks Close and Park Meadow pools fishing well. The warmer weather has seen lots more fly life and fish are moving well particularly on the more overcast periods.

Dry flies such as Olives, Hoppers and Sedges are increasingly catching more fish. Small Buzzers and Nymphs are also catching plenty of fish.

The best areas have been the road bank, old boat jetty and from the boats around the middle willows on Cocks Close. On Park Meadow, the deeper water in the middle and the far side from the boat jetty have been best.

The biggest fish of the week was a 12lb 8oz rainbow caught by John Riley of Atherstone who safely returned the fish and was the best of a 16 fish catch, all taken on Diawl Bach fished on a floating line. Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished the bank of Cocks Close and caught eight fish to 8lb using small black or olive Buzzers drifted around with the breeze on a floating line. Bill Greenaway of Stoke Golding caught eight fish to 6lb 4oz from a boat on Cocks Close and these all fell to a small Hares Ear Nymph fished on a floating line.

On the Park Meadow pool, Allan Bowen of Birmingham caught a 10lb rainbow whilst fishing from a boat and it was the best of a seven fish catch, all taken on a white and green goldhead Lure.

The Fishery is open from 8am until dusk.
