The Angling Trust is pleased to announce that the second RiverFest competition, which gets underway on the River Calder on Sunday 22nd June, is a complete sellout.

The majority of the 1,200 tickets, which went on sale in April, were sold within two weeks and most of the 20 venues being used for the qualifiers have also got waiting lists of anglers hoping to get in if someone has to drop out or qualifies on an earlier match.

Angling Trust Ambassador Dave Harrell, the man behind the original concept of the competition is delighted with the response.

“After last years competition I had a feeling that demand would be even higher and that’s exactly how it has turned out,” he said. “For the future, it means the competition is now firmly established and can continue to grow.”Following the success of the 2013 competition, both Thames Water and Severn Trent Water have chosen to continue their support the competition for 2014 and further partners are being sought.

The final of RiverFest 2014 takes place over the weekend of 15th and 16th November with a prize pot currently standing at £29,000. The winner will walk away with at least £12,000 this year, making it the biggest river competition payout ever.
