Deron Harper takes the lead at the RiverFest Qualifier on the River Thames at Clanfield

Despite the River Thames at Clanfield fishing well in past weeks, the overnight rain and downstream wind made conditions very difficult at the latest RiverFest qualifier held on Sunday 25th September 2016 with many anglers struggling to get good presentation on the pole and waggler, methods that have produced over the past few weeks.

Deron Harper spent the first hour on the whip for 3 roach and some minnows, before trying a straight lead with meat hook bait hoping that a barbel may show but without any joy. He spent the last two hours running a stick float tight down the edge with double caster to take 4 chub for a winning weight of 11-08-00.

Andy Johnstone had lots of small fish and a bonus chub for 10-02-00 to win Zone C and over all second in match.

Nick Early fished the pole & waggler on permanent peg 39 to put together mixed bag of roach chublets and dace for 9-02-00. This was enough to win Zone B and take 3rd place on the day.

The anglers who will be fishing the RiverFest final in November are;
1, Deron Harper 11-08-0 of chub (Zone A)
2, Andy Johnstone 10-02-0 (Zone C)
3, Nick Early 9-02-00 ( Zone B)
