CANADIAN police have arrested a man in connection with cheating in trying to win a £5000 fishing match.
Police said they were called to the Great Ontario Salmon Derby to investigate a winning 34lb chinook salmon entered in the ‘derby’, held at Bluffers Park.
After a close inspection, detectives found more than 7lb of lead pipe pieces inside the fish’s stomach.
Investigators at have charged Gary Bruce Morrison, 51, with two counts of attempted fraud. The match was sponsored by the The Toronto Sun.
