Not the big weights the fishery is used to, but with the absence of big carp all anglers had lots of bites from the smaller fish.

Pete drew peg 17 on the point and fished pole and corn over pellet he didn’t have a bite for the first half of the match but in the last half he had 11 carp – 3lb and the only big carp of the day a mirror going just over 8lb enough for 1st place, topping his winnings up by £100 for drawing the golden peg. In 2nd Dave also fished pole and corn he had a mixed net of carp and skimmers – 2lb and roach – 1lb

A change to the Sherwood lake because of the frozen Cavendish proved successful at least for Neil, late for the start of the match he only had time to set up one method and that was the pole and pellet, fishing at 12m he was into bream and skimmers – 3lb from the off catching all match and finishing with a total of 43lb 4oz and miles in front of 2nd placed Geoff Storer fishing pole and maggot over pellets for bream – 4lb.

A white over frost greeted the anglers this morning and the water temperature dropped to 4 degrees C on this shallow lake. Jason Singlehurst drew peg 45 and fished pole and pellet for carp he had 8 fish – 5lb steady during the match, were as fishery bailiff John fished red maggot over pellets for a mixed net of roach, skimmers and small carp.
