Hats off to the brave match anglers who fished the Browning West Midlands Pairs winter series, which concluded at the weekend with another grueller on the Birmingham-Worcester Canal at Stoke Works.

Throughout the series any weight over a pound has been good and that continued on Sunday with Smithies’ Roger Kimberley taking the honours with just under 2lb of ‘bits’ on punch from The Tins. There was only one other weight over the pound mark, Mill Tackle’s Derek Hicklin taking three good roach on maggot for 1-3-0. The league was won by Paul Bick and Rob Quinn from the Shakespeare Superteam, who saw off Roger Kimberley and Conrad Davies by a point.
