One of the biggest fishing matches anywhere in Europe, the 19th European Open Beach Championship, saw more than 900 anglers descend on the coastline between Bridlington and Spurn Point at the weekend for a £25,000 pot.

The main prize, £4,000 for the biggest fish and the overall win in the two day event, was won by experienced shore match angler Stuart Voase, who blanked on Day One but put that right by tempting a cod of 10lb from the Spurn Road from his only bite on the Sunday.  The Hornsea angler fished a worm and crab bait.
