Bright sunny conditions with a cool wind greeted the 130 anglers in this latest Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier held at Colemans Cottage on Wednesday 30th March 2016.

At the draw, the general view was that the late addition of Cottage Lake would most likely provide the winner. However, this wasn’t quite true although three of the top five places came from there.

The winner with a superb weight of 193lbs 12oz from peg 5 on Copse Lake was Tilbury angler Ross Harold fishing under the Matrix banner. Ross fished pellets shallow on the pole to take carp to 10lbs in his winning net.

His weight was well clear of second placed angler Robert Taylor from South Croydon fishing for Daiwa Dorking. Robert drew peg 8 on Cottage Lake where he fished 6mm pellets shallow and down the edge to land carp to 11lb in his 130lb 4oz total. Third placed ABC angler Ben Townsend from Peterborough drew on unfancied Stepfield Lake where he fished maggots across and down the margin to land F1’s and carp to 8lbs in his 98lbs net.

The Angling Trust would like to thank the owners and staff at Colemans Cottage for a well run match.

The action now moves to Monk Lakes on Saturday 2nd April 2016
