Surrey angler Mark Tullet won the latest PartyPoker.com Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier fished on Saturday 2nd May 2009 at Stafford Moor Fishery, with 96lb of carp.

A member of Surrey Starlets and an engineer by profession, Mark’s biggest carp was 6lb.

He drew permanent peg “Tanners 18” and fished the long pole to his left into a corner and baited up with Andy Blue 8mm pellets. Mark lost a few fish on the day as did most anglers.

The conditions on the day were ideal. It was dry and sunny with a ripple on the water and the result was a close run thing.

All through the day the predictions were changing from one peg to another and up to the final whistle it could have gone either way between 7 anglers only separated by 4 or 5 fish and it was not until the weigh-in that it was decided.

Second place from permanent peg “Woodpeckers 33” with 84.09lb of carp was Paul Greenwood from Viaduct Fishery, Somerton.

Paul who is a Fishery Manager was very unlucky as he snapped his rod during the match and lost an 8lb carp, his best fish was a 12lb carp, he alternated between the bomb and the shallow waggler with 8mm pellet.

Close behind Paul was Property Developer Marc Jones from Horbury who took 3rd place netting 82.05lb of carp from permanent peg “Tanners 36”, bomb and pellet waggler were Marc’s favoured Method.

Fourth place with a weight of 80.04lb went to Chris Davis from Yate in Somerset.

And in fifth place with a weight of 79.06lb was Kelvin Boddy who had made the long journey down from Scunthorpe.

The next qualifier will be held at Maver Larford, near Stourport, Worcestershire on Saturday 9th May.
