TACKLE firm Shimano has stepped in to resurrect the popular Tuesday evening Twyford Summer League on the Warwickshire Avon.

Formerly a float-only event, the new rules format means that swimfeeder and any legal methods are now allowed and there are no bait bans.

Organiser Stuart Gottfried is hopeful that this new initiative will encourage many anglers back to the famous stretch of river.

“It seems to me that the bubble is bursting a little in respect of commercial carp lakes and rivers are beckoning again,” he said.

“It may be hard work on the Avon in winter and nothing like it used to be in the glory days, but there are still plenty of fish to be caught and especially in summer at Twyford.”
The six-match, 30-peg Shimano Twyford 2003 Summer League will benefit from a £500 tackle fund. Dates for the matches are June 17th and 24th and July 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd.

Entry is £15 with the draw at 5.30pm at the Evesham Country Park and fishing 6.30-9.30pm. The contact is Stuart Gottfried on 07813 797912.
