Dutch lure fishing ace Willem Stolk has bagged a perch over the world record weight while practising for the forthcoming World Predator Classic.

The Shimano backed angler landed the 6lb 10oz predator from Holland’s huge Lake Hellevoetsluis on a vertically-jigged soft plastic bait, a technique that will play a big part in the event.

Willem will be competing in the World Predator Classic with another Shimano ace, Jan Porter. The World Predator Classic takes place from June 19th to 22nd 2014.

The current IGFA world record for perch is a fish of 6lb 6oz caught at Kokar off the Alan Islands in Finland by Kalle Vaaranen in September 2010.

The IGFA recently announced that they are adding perch to the list of species eligible for line class record claims – see https://www.total-fishing.com/fishing-news/perch-be-added-igfa-line-class-record-list
