Winter League Semi Final, Kennet and Avon Canal

WEST Midlands team Sensas Dams and Locks will be thinking this competition has something in for them after having what they thought was a qualifying place snatched from their grasp following a heartbreaking error

After the match the organisers announced that the team had snatched the final qualifying position by virtue of more section winners after tieing with Daiwa Dorking on 68 points.

Sensas Dams and Locks drove away happy and no doubt had a few beers to celebrate.

However, when they woke up this morning they found that there had been a mistake in the counting of section points, and that they had actually scored 69 points. That moved Dorking into the final qualiying slot.

So it’s all ended in tears for the Midlands canal aces, who at one stage thought they would be fishing the semi on their home water, the Fazeley Canal in Birmingham.

Hayes Hounslow won the day with Preston Innovations Delcac second and Daiwa Gordon League third. Ven den Eynde Essex, who have proved themselves to be very strong on the River Nene, Peterborough where the final is held will not be there this year. They finished seventh with another strong outfit, Hotrods, also going out.
