There will be free coaching for kids aged from 8-15 at a new fishery opening up on the outskirts of Nuneaton, Warwickshire in April.

Jersey Wood Fishery, a five lake complex, will be home to the Chay Jackson Academy of Angling which has already coached more than 2000 children and adults since its launch in 2009.

The fishery will be both day ticket and membership with those aged from 8 to 15 years of age who come through the angling academy receiving FREE fishing until they are 18 years old plus free tackle.

The venue opens up on April 1st, 2013 and is only a few minutes’ walk from the award winning Hoar Park Craft Centre site that has a bar, restaurant, café, shops and toilets.

Said Chay: “We hope we are removing some of the main barriers that prevent young people taking up angling. Over the next few months more 15lb plus carp and possibly a few catfish will be added to one of our old stock ponds to create a specimen carp lake, and mixed species will be added to the already extensive stocks in the remaining pools.

“We will also be investing in plants, trees, roadways and swims over the next 12 months as well as erecting a lodge to be used as a classroom for the academy.”
