TOURNAMENT-TOMat the moment i am using a conny G8, which i am going to sell very soon and i am looking to buy a new one. i have almost made my mind up with the tournament pro but have only held one in a shop and never used one, i have now seen the elite 57 and am confused, has anyone used either of these poles if so how do they compare? cheers
-
23/07/2007 at 7:44 pm #61377
SteveSI have had a tournament pro on order for 6wks due to the demand for this pole so i think that speaks for itself! Should arrive in next couple of weeks fingers crossed!!! it will be worth the wait tho, have had a go with a couple of my team mates, truely awesome!!
-
23/07/2007 at 8:06 pm #61378
TF_chaveyParticipantI know of a friend who is selling a pro in very good condition if you would like it ? you wouldn’t have to join the waiting list.
He’s getting a Garbolino super G10 if you are interested. -
23/07/2007 at 10:15 pm #61379
FORDY 1ParticipantIt would have to be cheap
-
24/07/2007 at 3:25 pm #61380
TF_CarpicusParticipantT-N-T, reckon you should be sponsored by Dynamite!
Simply – the Tourny Pro is “time served”, the most popular pole on the market, and it’s so strong you can’t imagine! You just need to decide if thats what you want, or do you wait until more people have commented on G10 etc… TTP for me every time! -
24/07/2007 at 6:12 pm #61381
SteveSBeen on the waiting list long enough now so might as well wait a bit longer for a brand new un but thanks chavey.
Unless it is very cheap!
-
24/07/2007 at 6:31 pm #61382
TF_MatchcarpGarbolino G10 …….Not going to slag any other pole ……. Suffice to say the G10 is the next generation. The package it comes with takes some beating too………

terryblazeT-N-T, why not hang fire and get the daiwa nano when it’s released. Shouldn’t be long just ironing out a few minor hitches (will keeps breaking it)
-
24/07/2007 at 8:56 pm #61384
SteveSIs this the replacment for the pro then terry?
-
24/07/2007 at 9:03 pm #61385
terryblazeIt will be the new flagship mate.
-
24/07/2007 at 9:06 pm #61386
SteveSTypical! as soon as i can afford and order a pro the replacement is due!!!!!
-
24/07/2007 at 10:15 pm #61387
TF_mp.miloAll the while the tourny is selling so well,Daiwa wont release the new one.
-
24/07/2007 at 10:57 pm #61388
TOURNAMENT-TOMwhats this nano then? havent heard about this at all???
-
24/07/2007 at 11:01 pm #61389
TOURNAMENT-TOMare the shimano poles any good? the aspire pro and ax,how do they compare to the mighty tournament pro?
-
25/07/2007 at 6:41 am #61390
TF_MatchcarpI do not believe half of you T_PRO owners actually pick one up or even compare it to anything else……… The ammount you see on the bank coupled with a guy on “Galaxy Rive” or something similar it’s obvious how these people got theirs…….. Pick up a Garbolino G10 and a Pro ……..I know which one you will put down first …….. The Pro is a far better fashion statement than it is useable at length or in the wind ………
-
25/07/2007 at 7:07 am #61391
TF_ballitinParticipantI had the elite 57 and the G10 up at my tackle shop and for me the elite 57 would take it .
It just felt better when giving it a waggle in the shop ,alittle less bounce through the 5-6 sections but both are good poles, aswell as the TP but for the money they should be . Another way to look at buying a new pole is the guarettee you get with it and the cost of new sections if you broke one and it was your fault,be warned make sure your sat down when going through the price of the big sections of any top of the range poles! -
25/07/2007 at 8:02 am #61392
MaesknollI’ve recently bought a TP and couldn’t be more pleased with it. I was tempted by the Elite 57 (two poles for the money) but the TP feels, IMO better balanced. It replaces a Maver N15 and the first two matches I fished with the TP, I won, I put this down to the fact I could fish at 13m+ in a stiff wind – impossible with the N15.
The power kits that come with the TP do slightly unbalanced the pole, but with the match kits, it’s superb. The match kits with the No1 section removed will happily cope with black hydro.
As for waiting lists – Veals of Bristol have TP’s on the shelf…..
-
25/07/2007 at 11:46 am #61393
TF_BazHParticipantIf Veals have them in they have ordered them on spec, Diawa are making the TP to order only now that’s why people are waiting a fair while for them.

25/07/2007 at 11:47 am #61394
tommo nAny flagship pole is generally a superb piece of kit and usable at length. Some poles are better in some regards than others, i marginally stiffer, stronger, slimmer etc. Everybody has a preference or style which means one may suit you more. Either pole you have mentioned would be superb. I choose a pro Just over a year ago and couldn’t be happier with it. In the end it came down to the fact it was tried and tested and that would (gave me confidence while using it) and IMO stiffer and stronger than a 995 (my other choice at the time) and the spares are reasonable and available for long periods after the pole is superceeded. This is a relevant point for me as i dont suffer from shiny syndrome and have to change it as soon as something 1mm stiffer at 16m comes out.
The shimano poles feel very good and strong they are a diffent action to the pro and are tippy on the strike. The pro seems stiffer to me but that does not take anything away from the shimano. It may be the right pole for you. IMO though the spares, top kits etc are too pricey for me. But it had the best finish i had ever seen on a pole -
25/07/2007 at 4:46 pm #61395
TF_Joe Carassto be fair tho MC how long have the pro’s been around??? other companies should be catching up shouldnt they??? cant wait for my G10 to arrive tho lololol 3 weeks!!!!!
-
25/07/2007 at 4:59 pm #61396
FORDY 1ParticipantThat’s right joe everyone compares the new poles with the pro and it is 4 years old.I still use my 410,people say why dont u get a new one, what cant i do with a 410 that i could with a new top of the range? I’ve had bags to 325lb with it and loads of 200lb bags! Many people think it will catch them more fish when in reality they have to learn which end to hold first.
-
25/07/2007 at 5:32 pm #61397
TF_Joe Carassyea i love my pro to bits, been an awesome pole for 3 1/2 years but its that worn and battered i need a new pole, i mean ive never had problems with it at all just been a good workhorse. hopefully the G10 will be able to fill its shoes nicely
-
25/07/2007 at 6:05 pm #61398
TF_GUS ENew pole but which one ?
ANS=Any pole that you can aford is the right one,As long as your happy with it thats all that matters.I have used the same three poles for the last five years and have broke all three all my fault.I am now in the market for two new poles at the moment my choice would be Preston 2G10 + the Invictus power pole.i have not yet seen the new Drennan pole. -
25/07/2007 at 6:40 pm #61399
TF_chaveyParticipantThere are pictures of the new Daiwa Tournament poles for the Italian marked on this link:

TF_chaveyParticipantoops that should have read ‘Italian Market’
There seems to be several new Tournament poles on the way -
25/07/2007 at 7:43 pm #61401
FORDY 1ParticipantThe Italian poles don’t normally have much to do with wot we get the actions are normally different.
-
25/07/2007 at 9:16 pm #61402
FAPSPSParticipantDecided to splash out then Joe? Good on yer, business must be booming (sponsored Garbo prices will help I guess! lol!)
-
26/07/2007 at 12:37 am #61403
Anonymouswot about the 2g10 new fox elite or even the maver 371 mr masson says its the pole he would shell out 4 if he had 2 shell out
-
26/07/2007 at 1:29 pm #61404
AnonymousI see there is several comments on here regarding the Tourny Pro and the G10, let me give you an opinion from someone who has had both. The Pro is on another planet, it is without doubt a lot lighter and is a doddle to fish at 16m and beyond. The G10 at 14.5 metres and beyond is a total back breaker, spares are an absolute nightmare to get hold off and I know of a few that have broken on the strike, like the 995 was prone to doing.
If you are looking to get rid of a Pro for a G10 you seriously need you head testing. I have recently sold the G10 and have bought another Pro, when I picked the Pro up again I just couldnt believe how much better it was, it felt lighter, stiffer, and just far far superior, I kid you not !!!!
-
26/07/2007 at 2:49 pm #61405
TF_MatchcarpCunningStunt is right (a cunning stunt) – If you believe that statement you will believe anything folks – PS Who strikes with a pole, ‘fraid I don’t!!!
Oh I remember it’s those bogus insurance claimers with the Galaxy Rive and the Flagship poles, there that ones.. -
26/07/2007 at 2:55 pm #61406
TF_MatchcarpThese threads always get the best out of people don’t they…..Anyone want to buy my G10, sounds like I have bought the wrong pole…. Bummer ;0(
-
26/07/2007 at 5:00 pm #61407
FORDY 1ParticipantI know 4 people who have a G10 and all 4 have broke at least 1 section, 1 has had 3 go.
-
26/07/2007 at 6:39 pm #61408
TF_Joe CarassFAPSPS- yea deffo had to invest, broke my number 7 twice in last two weeks lolol my pro is just trashed mate. to be fair if i didnt get G10 cheap id have another pro as im very happy with it, but whats the point in buying another one when i can get a G10 and a G796 for spares for the same price lolol
-
26/07/2007 at 7:34 pm #61409
TF_MatchcarpI just do not understand how people break these poles, I had a G995 for 2 years with no breakages now I have a G10 and have no fear of any breakages on this either cos I can feel it is stronger… Keep reading about breaking on the strike and all that I think it is mishandling and abuse that are the factors for breakages. I’ve said it before an I’ll say it a say i’ll say it again….. If you wanna be striking to the moon and working em up tree roots get a crunching pole.
Joe you know the real reason you are getting a G10 and that’s because every time you look down the bank you can see Lodgeys or Wangas stuck out like a poker above the floppy (by comparison) Pros :0)
Am I right?
You know I am !!! -
26/07/2007 at 10:17 pm #61410
TF_skettyi think two net tom is a plonker

-
27/07/2007 at 11:08 am #61412
AnonymousMatchcarp, if you havent got anything sensible to say then dont bother, does your opinion have anything to do with being sponsered by Garbolino, MMMM I wonder. I couldnt care less either way I have had both poles and my statement is fact. I see when the G10 was 1st available it was £2300 and already the price has dropped to £1900 in 3 months, thats tells me one thing, they cant sell any. Pro’s are still on back order after 4years I REST MY CASE.
-
27/07/2007 at 11:58 am #61413
TF_Dave PelletCS who’s selling the g10 at £1900?
cheapest I have seen is £2100
-
27/07/2007 at 4:01 pm #61414
TF_MatchcarpOoop – Ooooops I think I got a nibble there ……..
Like I said insurance claims, it stands out a mile ……..
Still every one has an opinion but a lot don’t know what they are talking about…….
I bet you put your pole under your b***s and rest it on a spray bar don’t yah ;o) chuckle chuckle -
27/07/2007 at 7:55 pm #61415
AnonymousHey matchcarp, I’d carry on smoking that crackpipe if I were you. As for your insurance claim comment I presume you are saying that the majority of t/pro owners are all obtaining them fraudulantly from there insurers ?
I bet youre one of those anglers who talks a good match but knows naff all, I bet you get dropped most weeks, either that or you just quote your team name left, right and centre to make you look good LMAO
-
27/07/2007 at 8:00 pm #61416
FORDY 1ParticipantI think he’s on!
-
27/07/2007 at 8:04 pm #61417
The-FlyLOL love all the friendly banter, however Fly’s right, the pro is far better than that G10, I can say that as I own a G10………… no for much longer though its going on ebay
-
27/07/2007 at 8:26 pm #61418
Anonymousall the talk pro or g10 wot happend ta the poles from preston or fox or maver etc
-
27/07/2007 at 8:42 pm #61419
Blaggers.ParticipantWell, all I can say is that there’s so much tosh spouted on this thread about the poles it’s untrue.
I have had a G10 since the first batch landed in blighty (April 07) and a Pro before that.
Would CS like to qualify his “fact” post?
I could talk about how I arrived at the decision to make the change, or how I’ve got on with the pole since, but I don’t think I’ll bother.
Both are excellent poles in their own right, what suits one doesn’t suit the next.
PS, As a tackle dealer, I would say that either you’re telling porkies about the price of a new G10, or the shop doing the selling hasn’t really got a grasp on the fundamentals of the retail business.
-
28/07/2007 at 5:56 am #61420
TF_MatchcarpYep Fordy he is def’ on ……..Yeeehaaaa.
Blaggers is right, why bother, it’s not an argument (just a bit of crack as far as I am concerned)it’s merely a forum for offering an opinion (with a bit of wind up thrown in) but I still standby the G10 as does the tackle dealer.
I bet Blaggers would also support my insurance statement too though probably not publically.
two-nets-tom will know which pole he wants by now, wont yah Tom? ;o) -
28/07/2007 at 8:20 pm #61421
TOURNAMENT-TOMappreciate the help guys and after extensive looking and holdind in the shop, ihave purchased a t pro, i think all the poles discussed are excellent in different ways and its down to personal preference but the pro is the one for me!! oh yes!!
-
28/07/2007 at 8:43 pm #61422
FORDY 1ParticipantAre u sure u made right choice?
-
28/07/2007 at 9:25 pm #61423
matt jankusthis is pathetic…even if your sponsored and you get a flagship pole at trade price there still cost over a G, your either minted or your a tackle tart,u get a tourney pro then a 995 then a g10 u must b a drug dealer 4 sure…!
-
28/07/2007 at 11:33 pm #61424
TOURNAMENT-TOMmatty p is obviously jealous, and should stick to noddy fishing
-
29/07/2007 at 6:28 am #61425
matt jankusooh that 1 went right off the rest..!
-
29/07/2007 at 10:08 am #61426
BestyParticipantmatty p LOL, top post, but no one on this post has mentioned the G10 absolute, no I’m not a drug dealer but I’ve got a mate with more money than sence,LOL
-
29/07/2007 at 10:24 am #61427
TOURNAMENT-TOMthe preston absolute? wasnt that impressed with the overall build quality with tat one, just out of interest, what pole do you use matty p? i dont want to be a tournament tart but i just love the equipment and idolise mr raison!!!!
-
29/07/2007 at 5:25 pm #61428
matt jankusi’ve got a garbo superleague that i got 4 £600 and a whisker b4 that so i’ve got top kits 4 both makes but if i had 2 choose i’d go 4 the tourney pro cause i’ve heard the least amount of problems out of that 1 and the garbolino poles even though every top pole at the mo seems 2 have a problem with a no section been weak and breaking more than the others which is crap 4 the amount of money u pay 4 them!
-
29/07/2007 at 5:45 pm #61429
matt jankusyour topkits 4 your conny g8 would fit the TP aswell theres not much diff between top daiwa pole top kits any way if any at all i believe.
-
30/07/2007 at 10:12 am #61430
TF_mickydHave a look at the new Drennan Zircon for the money and package you wont find better.
-
30/07/2007 at 2:26 pm #61431
AnonymousI’ve been following this thread with interest listening to the views and input by everyone..just thought i’d mention that my mate had a waggle with my new Sensas 664 after a match yesterday and he said it was as stiff as his preston gis 10 absolute and he was going to by one as a second pole.
-
30/07/2007 at 6:52 pm #61432

-
30/07/2007 at 8:00 pm #61434
TF_geepsterParticipantThe Tourny Pro is without question still the best balanced pole at 16m I have used.
-
31/07/2007 at 5:54 pm #61435
TF_Joe Carassmatchcarp-no its coz i keep breaking my pro lol, my number seven snapped in the north east regional on sunday. didnt help with the hole that was in it from the barbed wire fence i shipped onto last year lolol
-
31/07/2007 at 6:10 pm #61436
TF_MatchcarpYou will not be disappointed with the G10 – I know a lot of people will not look at anything but Daiwa – Like I said earlier it’s not an argument it is merely personal preference – I am fortunate enough to not have to look too much at cost but I would not swop my pole for any other …
-
31/07/2007 at 6:12 pm #61437
TF_Joe Carasstell ya what tho, picked my G796 up t’other day and put it up today. cant believe how good it is. id happily use that, to be honest.
-
31/07/2007 at 6:39 pm #61438
dave_rushtonParticipanti got the messiah and that has done me proud for the past three years, i can comforablely fish it at 16m allday.
