I wouldn’t look upon opens as a cash making exercise.Go for the experience initialy.

R u winning club matches regually enough 2 try open matches?or is it that u just fancy a change from the norm?My advice is that you should pick a local 10-20pegger open first and see what your like against some of the local rods…watch the locals and ask questions and you’ll soon b competeing..good luck

Stonfo, unfortunately your missing the point>fishing=fun! Personally mate i do both,banter better with club but i am not going to go somewhere i don’t like so if that’s the case i will do an open. Luckily i win my fair share at both.

You have got to consistently be winning club matches before considering the move up to opens. Even then it will be a struggle to start with certainly not a way to make money! Like Terry I fish a few club matches but mostly fish opens. I go where I enjoy the fishing whether that be a club match or an open. To be honest the club matches I fish are getting less and less as they are often on the club venues that I no longer enjoy as they are often a struggle.

An open is completeley different, severe lack of banter unless you are in the ‘in crowd’. However going to the same venue week in week out, if thats what you like, makes it a lot easier to increase your catch rate.

dont need to be in the in crowd at our opens…..we take the pee who ever you are first time or not
