An angler called Steve Kelly, fishing E section in the Div3, has been disqualified. This means that his club, Prince Albert AC, have fallen from 16th to 23rd.
Does anybody know him? Anyone know what his error/ misdemeanor was?
if it was a genuine error, as a friend of mine made a few years back when he fished the wrong peg, you’ve got to feel sorry for the poor bugger!
or was it something more serious?

I hope so, Alfie- I really don’t think there’s many anglers who would knowingly do wrong at such an event.
If it is just a mistake- or even worse, just an error in the admin, the poor sod must be absolutely gutted.

if he was a scouser you wouldn’t be saying it to his face would you?

Oh dear, if that’s all it was, it does seem a little harsh!
I was on peg 1 (K section), and the marshall wasn’t what you’d call the most organised.
He asked me to help with the weigh-in, but I didn’t see or hear him ask the two guys on pegs 2 & 3.
When it came time to weigh-in, I got the scales, the marshall and the guy on 2 weighed me, and off we went.
Now, I assumed that the guy on 3 would join in when we got to him, but no, he carried on putting his stuff away.
So me and the marshall-who had obviously never done a weigh-in before, did the whole section.
When I eventually got back to my peg, mateys on 2&3 had gone, and my gear was all on it’s lonesome, AND I’d weighed in 37 (well, 36) single handed!
I didn’t complain, though, as I really don’t think the marshall explained to the other lads what was expected of them.
So if that’s all Steve did, I think disqualification is a bit harsh, scouser or not!

brummie dave, well done on the weigh in of all those anglers in your section. Just woundering what your thoughts about disqualifing the angler on peg 3 if when you got back to your peg your expencive fishing tackle had gone? I dont think you would have been pleased with that angler who could not be arsed to keep an eye on your tackle while you did the hard work of helping to get the weigh in completed! Think you would have wanted that angler to be disqualified and have his nackers chopped off.

TrueBlue- you’re absolutely right, if my gear had gone missing, I’d have been spitting blood, but that marshall would have been spitting gallons of River Great Ouse for days to come!
I’m certain that the problems on my section were with the marshall, rather than the anglers.
BM- I can’t remember his weight, but it nowhere near mine- I was winning the section until we got the pegs in the 20’s, where the bream had decided to feed properly!
