Jeff MoorsCan anyone explain to me why has
Heron brook fishery lost its
fish-o-mania quallifier . -
03/08/2007 at 8:38 pm #62199
TF_NeilJeff, It had been speculated that it was because its very close to Cudmore those giving two qualifiers in a small geographical area but the decision to include Woodlands View, Moorlands & Larford puts paid to that theory

Jeff MoorsIt seems very strange to me to
take out one of the better venues, after hearing the stories from other fisho quallifiers. -

Anonymousvenues should be left to a board of selectors ,who are anglers themselfs

TF_dave brittainJeff.
The qualifier at Stafford Moor a couple of years ago was very good. Why it was dropped as a venue I have no idea as it is a far better complex than Witherington farm which fished very poor on the day.
Rumour has it that it may have had something to do with the fishery not subscribing to the NFA due to costs and it would be interesting to see if Heron brook is the same.
At the end of the day all we want is a good days fishing.
The qualifiers are expensive enough and there is nothing worse than travelling a long way to have a poor days fishing.

TF_SwimfeederJeff would you be kind enough to post the outcome of your talks with the NFA on here please? Keith reckons that not ONE official complaint was made to either the NFA or Matchroom regarding the venues for 2007, that in itself is staggering , because several venues received a slating on here and other sites, I did not participate in the fisho this year so cannot comment on the venues chosen, but it seems to me the only way things will change is to bombard the NFA with official complaints, please find out what you can about the Heronbrook omission and we can go from there.

Jeff MoorsI had a conversation with Neil Dale (heronbrook fishery owner)
and he stated that he has not had any corrispondence from the n.f.a concerning fish-o-mania

36 pegs on tanners
36 pegs on woodpecker
40 pegs on josephs
28 pegs on pines
+ Beaties which Andy would more than likely put in to give everybody plenty of room, although you do have more room than many venuess anyway. -

SarahWoodentop – the NFA have always contacted me for a date for Fish-O. We can’t accommodate it at the weekends (due to club bookings) so we have always been allowed to have a mid-week event – I think there are two others.
It may be that we are the only one in the area as to why they contact me.
Not sure of the reasons for Heronbrook.
I think as the venues are now set that it would not be possible to do anything this year – apart from don’t apply to the ones you think are not fit for the purpose.
NEXT YEAR though –
Those that fish venues that are unsuitable – write to the NFA and Matchroom and tell them why!! It is possible to do this by email. Send it to the HQ of the NFA ([email protected]) for the attention of Mick Turner in the subject. Then copy in Luke at Matchroom on [email protected] and this should ensure that the NFA (who deal with running it and the venues) are aware of the problem and Matchroom will be aware that there is an issue that should be dealt with by the NFA who they pay to run the competition.
Then if there is no reply within 2 weeks – re-send the emails with a note that you haven’t had a reply.
I’m pretty sure they would listen if only they were told about it??!
I think this is the most high profile match that angling has.
Don’t apply for the bad venues in 2008 – and those that do fish them – email and tell them why it was so bad.
Get it sorted for 2009.

Jeff MoorsHi Sarah, what i am saying is that Heronbrook has held two or three fisho quallifiers previously ,then all of a sudden,
no quallifier and no explanation -
10/08/2007 at 8:04 am #62219
SarahHi Jeff – I see what you’re saying – there may well be more to that. It does seem strange that a decent qualifier has not been re-booked where as a not so good one has.
The not so good one had no official complaints about it so that’s why that’s in again.
Have you had a reply from the NFA yet??
