Elinor opens for the 2017 season on Saturday February 11th at 7am.
With no flooding this winter the water clarity is superb. On calmer days this week there have been good numbers of fish rising to small buzzers.
Generally the lodge end of the lake fishes best at this time of year with bank angling more productive than from a boat.
The usual early season flies such as black/green or white/green lures always work well although with the incredibly clear water the over wintered fish may well fall to more imitative nymphs such as bloodworm, hares ear and black buzzer.
The preseason stocking of over 1600 fish were silver bars with good numbers of 3lb+ fish and some big fish up to 11lb 8oz.
Although its going to be a cold weekend there is not too much wind and prospects are excellent for a good start.
I hope you enjoy a memorable season.
